Our summer defense clinic is a 4-day program that will cover a wide range of skills and concepts that every defenseman needs. Whether this is your first year of defense or you’ve played your whole life, this clinic will offer high quality and positive instruction. Our dedicated and professional staff will bring a positive attitude and energy to each session that will create a great learning environment for each player. We will pay close attention to details and use progressive drills that will push your game to a new level. This clinic is open to 02-07 birth year players.
In our daily 80-minute session we will do full-ice and station based drills and instruction to work on the following skills and concepts:

Head Instructor: Ryan Blair – Blair was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He played 3 years of junior hockey - 2 years in the North American Hockey League (NAHL) and 1 year in the Eastern Junior Hockey League (EJHL) with the Foxboro Stars. After his junior hockey career Blair went on to play Division 1 hockey in Hockey East for UMass Lowell. The defenseman was named an assistant captain in his senior year. After graduating in 2011 he went on to play two and a half years of professional hockey in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL). Blair takes pride in working hard and leading by example. Coach Blair is entering his first year as the Head of Hockey Development with the Boston Junior Rangers Youth Program. Blair brings a passion for the game and a positive attitude to help bring each player to a new level.
Instructor: Maury Edwards – Maury was born and raised in Rocky Rapids, Alberta, Canada. Edwards, a defenseman, played two years of Jr. A hockey in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) with the Alberni Valley Bulldogs. Edwards finished his BCHL career with 24 goals, 58 assists for 82 points in 110 games. After his junior hockey campaign Maury went on to play Division 1 hockey in Hockey East for UMass-Lowell. At UMass-Lowell, Edwards played in 147 games over his four-year career, totaling 79 points (28g-51a). Edwards was on the 2007-2008 Hockey East All-Rookie Team and was a Hockey East first team all-star in 2008-2009. Following Umass-Lowell, Edwards played 2 years of professional hockey in the ECHL with the Cincinnati Cyclones and Florida Everblades. Edwards then decided to take his talents to Europe and played 2 years in Germany’s second tier league (DEL2). In 2014-2015 he was named defenseman of the year for the entire league. During the last 2 years Maury has played in the top professional league in Germany called the DEL. Maury brings a great hockey resume and will provide great coaching and insight to our clinic.
